Gazette, Branstad show poor standard

Two subjects. First, The Gazette's editorial board opines one week that people concerned about their Second Amendment rights should have “common sense” about intrusions on their constitutional rights, yet weeks later is sanctimoniously up in arms about any intrusions on their First Amendment rights.
When I called The Gazette on two separate occasions to inform them of spelling, punctuation, and even errors which could lead to misunderstanding, I was informed by people who answered the phone that they get 99 out of 100 correct and that is a good standard. With that as well as the aforementioned constitutional issues in mind, can you spell hypocrisy?
Second, I read Gov. Terry Branstad and the Republican majority legislature approved $320,000 in taxpayers' dollars to refurbish a Civil War memorial to Iowans in Mississippi. This after their refusal to approve $500,000 for food banks who help live Iowans in dire straits. Yep, the Republicans definitely have their priorities straight.
