Friends grateful for support
The Gazette Opinion Staff

The Friends of the Cedar Rapids Public Library would like to give the people of Cedar Rapids a huge round of applause. We recently had our annual book sale. It is our major fundraising event. This sale is only possible with the help of a small army of volunteers. Before the sale, we had people unpacking the thousands of books for the sale from 9 a.m. until after 5 p.m. During the sale, volunteers took money, restocked tables and assisted buyers.
In addition, the Johnson Avenue Hy-Vee donated food for the hardworking volunteers and the local Pepsi distributor ensured their thirst was quenched. The support given by the people of Cedar Rapids was tremendous. The most amazing part is that I am sure Friends will experience the same outpouring of support for next year's book sale.
