Freedom of speech doesn’t mean freedom from consequences

Reading John Kass's column in the Sunday, July 5 Gazette on cancel culture only made me think one thing. John Kass wants to be able to say whatever he wants, whenever he wants and he wants to be able to like or promote whatever he wants, whenever he wants on his social media but he doesn't want to take any responsibility for it or be called out for it whatsoever.

You are not a victim of 'cancel culture' because you were forced to be accountable for your words and actions. You were being held accountable, accountable means responsible. Say whatever you want but if it's nasty or seen as wrong, people will say something about it. And using Dinesh D'Souza to try to advocate against Democrats, really? He is known for his promotion of conspiracy theories, use of racially charged language and tweets about 'fake news.” He relished outing a fellow college classmates who were gay. He ridiculed the death of Trayvon Martin and the Parkland shootings. That's not someone you want to cite in advocating against 'cancel culture.'

John Kass needs to grow up, learn responsibility and become accountable for the things he says and does instead of blaming others.
