Freedom comes with price of vigilance

The price of freedom is eternal vigilance and the fact is that we the people have gone to sleep on the job. Things have gone so well that we have neglected exercising our responsibilities as citizens of this great republic.
We have nodded our heads in attention while our elected representatives, who have sworn to uphold the Constitution, have systematically acted to render the Constitution null and void. We have been concerned about what our elected representatives did and said only at election time. We have made decisions on information that was carefully prepared for our consumption. We dozed off while we were standing guard.
Now that we are awake, let us stay awake. At least keep informed as to the actions of our elected representatives when compared to their statements. Then come election time, we can cast an intelligent ballot.
Remember what counts: character, political philosophy and character.
