Recently, AG Brenna Bird used Charlie Kirk's killing to remind everyone that "the right to free speech must be protected." Her comments are typical of many on the right who are censoring, canceling, and firing anyone who makes a critical comment about Kirk's beliefs. It is the height of hypocrisy to champion the First Amendment to defend Charlie Kirk's right to share his beliefs on college campuses, but then punish anyone who criticizes those beliefs after Kirk's death.
Rev. Howard-John Wesley said, "How you die does not redeem how you lived." Under the First Amendment, Kirk had every right to espouse his racist, sexist, and pro-gun beliefs, and we have the right to criticize those beliefs. Wouldn't Kirk want that? The T-shirt he was wearing when he died literally said FREEDOM. Free speech is for everyone, not just for a chosen few.
