Free country needs a free press

The thing that makes the United States different from other countries - our Constitution - is under attack.

America has been a country of differences - different people, different thoughts and different ideals. As a country we have been able to discuss, even argue, where we stand on certain issues. We could find a free flow of information via letters, newspapers, periodicals, magazines, in times past and presently on television, and online on the issues.

This free flow of information - pro or con - about an issue has been protected by the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. To restrict the free flow of information that we have enjoyed, and is our right, is unconstitutional and for journalists to be in harm's way for doing their job is criminal.

A free country needs a free press. The United States needs a free press.
