Founding Fathers did not leave loophole

Since President Donald Trump is so sure he can pardon himself for any crime because he's the president, then, theoretically, Vice President Mike Pence could shoot President Donald Trump, become president himself and shut down any investigation regarding the murder.
I don't think the Founding Fathers were so stupid as to leave such a glaringly obvious loophole.
