Foul language no laughing matter

Who'd a thought the goofy Bob Saget could win us over with f-bombs and profanity? Saget, the same guy who delighted us with his down home roles on America's Funniest Home Videos and Full House in the 90s.
Maybe that's all it takes these days, being really, really foul mouthed. Apparently it managed to get the packed house at Riverside Casino Event Center ' ... howling with delight ...” according to Gazette reviewer Diana Nollen who found his humor unfit to print ('Saget keeps full house howling with salty standup at Riverside,” Oct. 26). Says a lot about our tastes, doesn't it?
I guess it shouldn't surprise us too much. Consider the current YouTube video of the 'Potty Mouthed Princesses,” a group of preteen girls strutting around singing heavily laced F-bomb lyrics - all in a thinly disguised ploy to sell T-shirts. Their parents must be very proud.
But it's just not stage shows, song lyrics, sitcoms and videos which have taken a dive for the bottom of the toilet.
Have you noticed what's happened to many top-selling authors? Many have changed their writing over the past few years. Now, they dribble foul language and flagrant sex in their writing where it never appeared before. Why? I can only surmise that's what the public wants. Less substance. More smut.
