I support the election of Kathy Ulrich to the Cedar Rapids school board. Ulrich is an outstanding teacher. She always put her students first and was a fearless advocate for them and their families. She was always open and available to students and their families.
She was firm and loved all of us at the same time, teaching us to be positive and independent people. She helped us to prepare for life in the outside world and helped us find paths to our success in college and beyond.
She also continued to take classes that helped her learn more about the field of special education so that she could help us. She has a passion for everything she does. She is running for the school board because she wants the best for every student. She worked especially hard to be sure all of her students could become better readers.
I know all of these things because I was one of her students. A vote for Ulrich is a vote not just for students with special needs, but for all students.
