For those who say party shouldn’t matter

This will be a carefully worded letter about the differences between women candidates running as Republicans, and women running as Democrats. I am writing this to the voters who say they vote for the person and not the party. Well, in this day and age, party platform and philosophy really matter.
Many voters in House District 67 recognize the name Ashley Hinson. Her opponent is Eric Gjerde, who is a Democrat. Ashley follows her party, which plans to continue with Medicaid privatization and support of Gov. Kim Reynolds' attempt to stop all abortions in our state.
Democrats want Planned Parenthood clinics to continue to be funded, and want public schools to get adequate funding as determined by school superintendents.
Adequate taxation of the wealthy and big corporations would also help get enough money to fund clean water and air regulations.
Abby Finkenauer is a Democratic candidate who will do a great job representing Iowans in Washington. The negative ads are such a disservice to the voters.
Reynolds, a Republican, does not represent women's rights nor the efforts to get women equal pay for equal work.
