Food stamp articles help educate public

On behalf of the non-profit grass-roots advocacy program RESULTS, I wish to thank and commend The Gazette for publishing many excellent letters and articles about poverty that include the subject of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP (food stamps).
This is a program that has helped millions of vulnerable “food insecure” Americans and is one of the issues of concern for RESULTS, which is committed to creating the political will to end hunger and poverty.
We appreciate The Gazette's efforts to educate our community's residents about poverty issues in our country and especially in Iowa and Cedar Rapids. Media advocacy is vital to building political will by informing elected officials about the issues and what constituents are thinking.
