Fireworks still causing disruptions

I awoke at midnight July 4 and removed my earplugs. I thought it would be safe by that time. Isn't it absurd that one has to wear earplugs in their own house just to sleep this time of year?

At 12:30 a.m., the first series of fireworks woke me up again. An owl outside in the trees loudly exclaimed, 'Who, who?” 'Good question,” I thought. The fireworks went off again loudly at 1 a.m. and 2 a.m.

I laid in bed and thought, 'Who is shooting off fireworks in the city at this time of the morning? What kind of person does things like that? What depth of utter disregard for others must one have to behave like that? Where are the cops when you need them?”

Then it occurred to me that the same deplorables who elected the state legislative majority, those who legalized fireworks sales, are the ones who are responsible. Indeed, there exists an unfortunate symbiosis that decent folks must now confront.
