I have long been an environmental voter as I believe that without a sustainable planet as a strong foundation, all other issues become secondary. The Oct. 8 report from U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (Global Warming of 1.5°C) confirms the urgency of action.
I support Abby Finkenauer for Congress in the 1st District because I think she understands this better than her incumbent opponent, Rod Blum.
Blum has a 2 percent lifetime rating with the League of Conservation Voters and has expressed skepticism of the findings of scientists. On Oct. 5, Blum was placed sixth on the League's 'House Dirty Dozen” list.
Emily's List (just one of many organizations endorsing Abby) states that 'Abby is a forward-looking leader focused on increasing economic opportunity for all Iowans.”
In her policy statement on Growing our Clean Energy Economy and Protecting our Environment, Abby expresses understanding of how these issues are vital and related. She understands how improving our environment will be good for our economy.
Abby Finkenauer will be more likely to develop policy based on the studies of the winners of this year's Nobel Prize in economics 'for integrating climate change into long-run macroeconomic analysis.”
Join me in voting for Abby!
