Fill the Plate telethon was a success
The Gazette Opinion Staff

On Sunday, I watched the beginning and the end of the “Fill the Plate” telethon on my computer since I do not get KCRG 9.2 on my television set. In between, I went to South Slope, to volunteer.
There were hundreds of people in and out of the building, from entertainers, volunteers, sponsors and KCRG-TV9 staff. I was truly impressed. KCRG-TV9 staff did an excellent job, not only in producing the live event, but in the hours of preparation.
The film highlights at the various nutrition sites took both time and talent. This program highlighted the importance of the congregate and home-delivered meal program for the seniors of Eastern Iowa. Rep. Dawn Pettengill spearheaded this event. The announced total raised was $99,200.
Thanks to KCRG-TV9 and all involved. I hope this becomes an annual event.
