Fearmongering rears its head in Senate race
The Gazette Opinion Staff

In Jack O'Brien's Oct. 15 letter, he offers support to Cindy Golding because“Democrats just love to tell us how we should run our lives, sincerely believing they know better than we do.”
In fact, if Golding is elected in Senate 18, I believe the first things passed in the state legislature will be a ban on abortion and a ban on same-sex marriage. To me that is the Republicans telling me how I cannot run my life, because they know better than me - the exact thing he was pinning on the Democrats.
Also, there is already a huge Republican majority in the House and a Republican governor, and so obviously no Democratic legislation would ever get passed. Besides that, Liz Mathis is a good woman who cares for Iowans, as we have all seen over the years. There is no need for this fear mongering, especially when it is the opposite of truth. O'Brien should get his facts straight.
