Faster speed limits are a family value

To the editor:
As a senior at Coe College, I fully endorse the proposal to raise the highway speed limits to 75 mph on select interstates. Such an increase will make it easier and faster for students, like myself, to visit their hometowns and reduce the likelihood of a traveling student receiving an unnecessary speeding ticket for going a reasonable speed (say 73) in a 70 zone.
Such frivolous tickets might benefit state revenue, but put the costs on students who can barely afford books and tuition. Now of course those with a reckless disregard for speed limits will still fly around at 90 or higher, but they have earned their tickets, and they will still receive them. But for those students just trying to get home to see mom and dad again, why shouldn't we give em a little help?
