I travel a lot in my job and visit many major cities in virtually every part of the United States on a regular basis. It has made me proud to hear positive comments from people all over the country, most of whom are well aware of the devastating flood that damaged our city in 2008.
One of the many people giving their time, support and tenacious hard work to the cause for recovery is Brian Fagan, who is running for mayor.
I support Fagan because he has shown not only the tenacity and strength we all represent, but the leadership skills and strategic mind required to bring this city to a new level.
I was raised here and know this is a working city with diverse groups and many different needs. Fagan has the rare combination of wisdom, compassion, vision and leadership to hear all the voices, consider all of the options and make good decisions. He also has the drive and energy needed to make Cedar Rapids what it has the potential to be.
Our strength is in our unity. Our future depends on building on that unity collectively behind a strong leader with a clear vision and the ability to implement fiscally responsible and forward-thinking solutions.
Look at the candidates and what they have done in the last few years. If you haven't considered Brian Fagan, take a closer look - you will see the heart of all of us in Cedar Rapids in his work.
