Extending health coverage protects all
Nov. 25, 2009 11:35 pm
I thank Rep. David Loebsack, D-Iowa, for supporting the health care reform act. Despite all the noise, this is a moderate and needed reform to make health care accessible and affordable.
No one should be denied health care because of a pre-existing condition; no people should be dropped by the insurance company once they get sick. Health care is a basic human right, not a profit center, and it's about time that we as a nation took serious our responsibility to ensure open access for everyone.
If people don't have insurance, those of us with it eventually cover those costs through higher premiums and higher bills. Extending coverage protects all of us.
I commend Loebsack for having the courage to do the right thing and extend health care for all Americans.
