Evidence was problem in Anthony’s trial
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Jul. 14, 2011 2:27 pm
We have professional people (Army Corps of Engineers and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources) taking care of flood control, and look at the amount of damage being done by flooding. We have professional people (president and Congress) in government and look at the deficit.
They (for the Casey Anthony trial) had a professional prosecutor, and the evidence they had did not prove beyond reasonable doubt. The prosecuting attorney and the defense attorney are the ones who chose the jurors for that case. Just because the verdict did not turn out the way the prosecuting attorney wanted, jurors did what they thought was right due to lack of evidence.
Even though Bob Schlegel (“Revamp jury system with professional jurors,” July 10 letter) thought it was the wrong verdict, put the blame where it belongs. Not with the jurors.
It's a good thing we still have some people with common sense.
