Everyone wins with non-smoking casino
The Gazette Opinion Staff

If the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission would put a handicap on a new Cedar Rapids casino of making it a non-smoking casino, everyone could come out a winner.
Travel to the Jumers non-smoking casino in Illinois would not be required and thus would boost state revenue. Smokers still would go to Riverside, taking less “bite” out of their revenues from the “cannibals.”
The racing and gaming commissioners would get public accolades for saving the health of Iowans while bringing in new state revenues. Cedar Rapids would get the benefit from the gambling revenue instead of distant monopolies offering to return only a small portion of our gambling dollars here.
