Ethanol contributes to clogged fuel filter

I don't know why Magellan Midstream Partners made the decision to stop delivering unleaded gas to the area, but as a non-user of ethanol, I'd like to share my experience with “gasohol.”
I first used it in a 3-year-old car around 1980. After a couple of tanks of it, my car started running poorly. The problem was a clogged fuel filter. It was because the alcohol in the fuel washed dirt out of the gas tank and fuel line. Turns out that I changed five fuel filters within the next month. When the filter reduces the flow to the engine, the car wouldn't maintain 25 mph.
So if you have avoided the use of ethanol in your vehicle up to this point, be prepared to replace your fuel filter(s).
