Ernst wrong to back Mississippi candidate

I wonder what values U.S. Sen. Joni Ernst actually stands for.
I've heard her talk about Iowa values and Iowa nice, but her recent support of Mississippi U.S. Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith in that state's runoff election would not represent the values I believe most Iowans hold. Republican Hyde-Smith recently complimented a supporter by saying she would attend a 'public hanging” if the supporter invited her. This in a state where racist hangings of men and women occurred all too often in the past.
That Ernst attended a rally for Hyde-Smith just days before the runoff does not speak well of Ernst or her values. It should not be acceptable to anyone. Yes, Hyde-Smith won. So maybe it's more important to Ernst for politics to win out over decent values after all.
