Regarding the Sept. 8 article 'Hospitals in expansion states performing well”:
In a nutshell it says that the hospitals in states that expanded Medicaid are in better shape than in states that did not. On May 22, 2013, Joni Ernst voted against SF 446. Let's see, a $40-$45 million increase in health system's earnings, declines of about 47 percent in uninsured or self-pay admissions, 107,500 Iowan's signed up and being helped, 7.2 million people in the U.S. since October 2013 signed up. Wow!
Thank you, Iowa legislators, for approving this. Additionally, Ernst was one of eight legislators to vote against the recommendations of the state's Alzheimer's task force. That vote was on SF 269 on March 19, 2013. I cannot support these kinds of votes by our legislators. Newspaper readers are very well-informed, tell your acquaintances that might be on the fence.
