To the edirtor:
Joni Ernst pays her political debts. She recently voted against subsidies for wind energies. Iowa is No. 1 nationally in wind energy. Eighty-five percent of Iowans favor wind energy. It generates enough power for 1,500,000 homes, is a $9.8 billion industry, pays land owners with turbines $16 million, saves water, cuts carbon dioxide emissions and more.
Her vote was applauded by Thomas Pyle, president of the American Energy Alliance, because it ended subsidies to wind energy. However, Pyle willingly accepts subsidies to big oil.
The American Energy Alliance receives millions of dollars of support from organizations linked to the Koch brothers.
The Koch brothers funded Ernst's campaign. Ernst shows her gratitude by supporting the Kochs and big oil subsidies while turning her back on an Iowa industry. She is loyal to the hands that bought her.
