Ernst joins pork producing ranks

To the editor:
It was merely weeks ago that Joni Ernst was running on a platform of 'cutting pork in Washington.”
In the Feb. 10 Gazette article 'Ernst calls for tougher stance against Russia” she indicates that she's ready to do just the opposite with her statement that German Chancellor Angela Merkel 'has balked at sending lethal aid to Ukraine.”
It seems obvious that every time someone has said something like this we've gotten embroiled in another war. The Republican Party is against raising taxes on the ultrawealthy, wants to overturn Obamacare because of its high cost for insuring those who need care and the assurance that someone can't be dropped if they get sick. Just two things that she thinks are folly. Appropriating money for more military reasons? Well, that seems not to be the 'pork” that she wants to cut. Heavens! We're still in a mess in Afghanistan, although that is drawing closer to an end for the U.S. military, but the Mideast is as big as powder keg as it was when George W. Bush took us into that poorly thought-out ordeal.
Do we really want to get into another sinkhole with Putin? That could certainly happen.
Ernst joined the pork producing ranks of John McCain and Lindsey Graham as a war hawk, it appears. Also, remember that 'we, the citizens” are supporting her generous salary and the best medical care, among other perks, on our dime. Is this 'cutting pork?”
