I believe that Eric Dirth is the best candidate to represent District 37 in the Iowa Senate. Eric is a former student of mine. He will be an honorable, effective and, indeed, exceptional legislator.
First, Eric is pragmatic and results-oriented. Our current political discourse is dominated by uncompromising rhetoric and extremist positions. But this will pass. When it does, we will be in search of sensible voices proposing reasonable, thoughtful and bipartisan solutions to our problems. Eric will be one of those voices.
Second, Eric is a knowledgeable advocate for environmental protection. The most significant long-term challenges facing Iowa are environmental challenges, including climate change and our steadily eroding water quality. These are not mere inconveniences. They pose existential threats to the quality of life in Iowa and to our state's economic well-being.
Eric has a deep understanding of these challenges and of the policy options realistically available for addressing them. I urge voters to take a look at Eric's webpage and see what he has to say about these topics. Then cast your vote for him on June 5.
