Equip police with heavy weapons

In response to your suggested subject on Oct. 6 of whether the police should be armed with heavy weapons. I think this is a rather silly question. I am trying to understand why anyone would ask such a question.
The criminal population of our country, state and, yes, even Cedar Rapids can and will, through their underground connections, have available the best and most powerful weapons to carry out their criminal activities.
Now your question is asking if our police should be allowed to have weapons as powerful as or more powerful than the outlaws?
We may as well disarm our police and let them carry only a nightstick as to restrict the level of armament they may have. If our law enforcement people need an armored vehicle to control a situation, to protect themselves and protect the public they serve, then, yes, they must have access to weapons or protective vehicles that are of greater power than the law breakers.
