EPA should listen to federal courts on Renewable Fuel Standard

Farmers across Iowa have been closely following whether the Environmental Protection Agency and the White House are going to keep their promises around biofuels.
Only weeks ago, the U.S. Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals struck down several small refinery exemptions granted by the EPA. These are the same handouts that allow big oil companies to ignore the law. It only makes sense that this court's ruling should be applied nationwide to SREs petitions beginning with the pending petitions for 2019.
We've already lost billions of gallons of clean burning renewable fuel demand to this exemption program. The administration needs to provide consistency while ending this unlawful undermining of the Renewable Fuel Standard.
Unfortunately, we've heard reports from D.C. that the White House will move to appeal this court's ruling. This approach is unacceptable to farm families and rural lawmakers across the Heartland.
