Enough is enough, vote no on library levy

To the editor:
The library tax has been put on the Nov. 3 ballot. First of all, I am all for a library in this community, but am not for additional taxes being raised to keep this building running. I cannot recall any conversations about having to raise taxes to maintain the building when this was under consideration for being built. Why was a fund not set aside for ongoing expenses when the budget was established after the 2008 flood? How in past years have our libraries been funded for upkeep/maintenance, etc.? I don't recall our having to request moneys for past libraries as this I believe is something that was part of property taxes already being paid.
So FEMA money was used to build the library. And since FEMA money comes from taxpayers, I guess we already have contributed tax dollars we have paid in to the government for this library.
Looking into the future most people have computers, Kindles, Nooks or other devices to use for reading with books available to upload at no cost. Kids use libraries at the schools they attend. For others, yes, they may use the library, but what is the percentage? I am all for education and reading but when will everyone say enough is enough with raising of taxes on the people of this community to pay for the mistakes the elected council members have made over the past years. I am saying enough is enough and will vote no for this tax increase.
