Enjoy a walk to see God’s beauty

As I pondered 'life” on my daily walk I could not help feeling blessed living in Cedar Rapids and being able to enjoy God's beauty within walking distance of my home.
As I proceeded to follow the winding Cedar River through Ellis Park around the boat harbor and into the woods surrounding Robbins Lake I was able to observe little groups of ducks, geese and the beautiful heron with its long neck, long legs and tapered bill. What an elegant bird. Three very small ducks approached me and I invited them to sit and stay a while and they seemed to understand and obeyed.
As I proceeded around the lake there were fishermen here and there with their fish poles propped up on sticks as they relaxed in their lawn chairs. One elderly couple in particular impressed me as they were in the same spot the day before, she was putting bait on his hook as he patiently held the pole.
What incredible beauty as I was able to observe a hint of yellow in trees that grace the riverbank and a short way up newly planted trees surrounding the bike and hiking path. The crunch of acorns under my feet also told me summer was ending and another gorgeous season was beginning.
If you feel the need to get away from the hectic pace of everyday life, there are many venues available that are absolutely free and walking is one of them.
