Energy investigation starts with Obama
The Gazette Opinion Staff
May. 4, 2011 12:23 pm
In the two-plus years that President Barack Obama has been in office, the price of gasoline has more than doubled. Without affordable abundant forms of energy, this country, our children, and our grandchildren will have a reduced standard of living. If you will take a good look around, you will see that it is already happening. Prices for all necessities of life are going up, as the higher prices of energy trickle through the economy.
So our dear president says “we need to have an investigation” on the price of gasoline. Well, maybe? If so, he needs to shine the flashlight upon himself first. His policies limiting oil and gas production here within our own country are a big part of the problem.
His shutdown of drilling operations in the Gulf of Mexico has caused thousands of good-paying jobs to be lost and the relocation of drilling rigs to foreign countries. His suspension of issuing oil exploration and drilling leases here in this country further hindered domestic production of oil.
Are you all ready to base your economy on unpredictable and costly energy sources like solar and wind? If you like $4 gasoline, perhaps you will really like it at $6 to $10. We must find a government that understands energy. The one in power at this time does not.
