Encourage athletes to wear a helmet

How many more scooter accidents will it take before the people of Iowa realize helmets are a necessity? As mopeds become a more common form of transportation, we continue to hear of accidents occurring on the roads, whether it be young college athletes or otherwise.
I would love the opportunity to show Coach Kirk Ferentz, and for that matter, any University of Iowa coach, administrator, or athlete, the site not far from Kinnick, and very near their field hockey and soccer fields, where I witnessed my friend die in a moped accident, while not wearing a helmet.
She'd be a college junior now and loved the Hawkeyes. I challenge all of the coaches at the University of Iowa to encourage their athletes to wear a helmet. More importantly, I challenge the politicians of our state to take action, and strongly encourage the residents of Iowa to think about the consequences of riding without a helmet. Remember, use your head, wear a helmet.
