Empower kids to eat healthier, live longer
The Gazette Opinion Staff

Did you know nearly one in three children and teens are overweight or obese in the United States? Experts say my generation could be the first in history to live shorter lives than our parents.
We cannot solve the childhood obesity epidemic without motivating kids to make healthy lifestyle choices. That is why I, age 14, and more than 1 million other young people have joined the Alliance for a Healthier Generation's empowerME Movement. All across the country, young people are working to inspire each other to eat better, move more and to be a solution to America's obesity epidemic.
The Alliance has designated September as Go Healthy Month. I hope you will encourage kids you know to celebrate by joining the empowerME movement and inspiring with their stories. You can learn more at www.empowerme2b.org Help us empower kids to make sure our generation will live longer, healthier lives.
