Embrace of immigrant reflects us at our best

I just read the news story about Ulises Felix ('Trump used her slain daughter to rail against illegal immigration. Mollie Tibbetts' mother chose a different path,” Dec. 28). I was very moved by this story, and I hope others were, too. The writer captures a side of immigrants' life in this country in a light not often seen.
Felix is a student at BGM, an aspiring basketball athlete and, sadly, someone caught in the middle of the whole Mollie Tibbetts/immigration mess dividing this country. I'm sure he is a fine young man, a young man who deserves a chance to be held close and respected for his contribution to the fabric of this great country, these United States of America!
I am very heartened by Laura Calderwood taking him in and giving him a stable home. My heart goes out to the Calderwood/Tibbetts family.
This is America at its best!
