To the editor:
Sen. Elizabeth Warren is the crucial voice missing from the 2016 presidential race. Hardworking Iowans, like me, are looking for a candidate who will be that tireless advocate for worker's rights and economic justice.
From her difficult beginnings as a wait staff and single mother to becoming one of the country's most prominent politicians, Sen. Warren has shown herself to be the champion that we need. We need a candidate that will fight for Main Street and not Wall Street. She fully understands the importance of transparency of government when it comes to the Trans-Pacific Partnership.
As a nurse, family member of elderly and disabled individuals, and proud member of SEIU, I have seen first hand the devastation of inequality facing Iowans - and Americans - daily. We must do something very soon, and Sen. Warren is the voice that can best guide us.
If it weren't for Democrats in the 2008 presidential contest pushing for health care reform, President Barack Obama may not have prioritized health care reform. There is no better way to define the national agenda than a presidential campaign. Sen. Warren's voice is imperative in the 2016 race. The debate about inequality and building an economy that works for all requires critical attention at this critical moment in history.
