Eliminate lead in ammunition

Lead is poison. Eating it harms you. That is true for all animals and humans. How can the NRA promote the continued haphazard distribution of lead in ammunition? This battle was fought decades ago with waterfowl hunting. Lead poisoned waterfowl and its use was banned. Now it is found to poison many other forms of wildlife also. There is no news here, no surprises.
Lead does not biodegrade. It does not go away. Our society has taken great effort to get lead out of our toys, gasoline, paint, and almost everything in our environment. To let the NRA claim a continued “traditional” right to blast it all over nature just because it costs less than steel or copper is sheer folly. They should pay less for their congressmen and more for their ammunition.
I am a Pheasants Forever member who greatly cares about wildlife and our environment, including the game food I eat. I do not want to poison any animal or my family. I am willing to pay more to prevent it. Our Iowa wildlife is struggling hard enough without making them sick through secondary lead ingestion.
I hope the Natural Resources Commission has the “guns” to take a stand for wildlife health on this toxic lead issue.
