Electoral vote system is outdated

When we vote on Nov. 8 we will be expressing our support for candidates running for local, county, state, and national positions. The results will be tabulated and reported as the total of individual votes for each position.
But when we vote for president in 2024 will that not be the case, thanks to the Electoral College system. Each state will tabulate the results for president and will elect or appoint representatives to cast the final vote. In Iowa those results mean that the candidate who won will receive all of Iowa's electoral votes: winner take all. Those who voted for the loser will essentially be disenfranchised for the position of president. That is not fair. At least Iowa could change our system to report the result proportionally, as some other states already do. That will help prevent some voters from becoming disenfranchised.
Our Electoral College system is outdated and unfair. Ideally results for president should be reported nationally vote by vote, without regard for the location of the voter. The results will then express the true will of all voters in the country. We now have the ability to quickly report election results and do not need to send unrepresentative, inaccurate results to Washington, DC.
The best solution is to change our national election system to one in which every single vote for president has the same power: one person, one vote.
