Election chance to put man of action to work
The Gazette Opinion Staff

It will be a year and five months since the flood as we select our new mayor. Look around the downtown and we see Smulekoffs, Guaranty Bank and Mr. Beans have rebuilt right in the epicenter of the event, and then look at City Hall. All we have seen is expensive hot air being pumped into the building. We have witnessed our churches meeting and pulling together volunteers to rebuild flooded homes, while the bureaucrats pulled together yet another meeting.
Now comes the selection of our new mayor and the choice is simple. On the one hand, we have a nice young man who has listened to the excuses of the expensive bureaucrats and then become their voice. On the other hand, we have a man of action who has proved himself on the state level as Speaker of the House, and on the local level as executive director of the Chamber of Commerce.
Let's seize the moment and put Ron Corbett to work for Cedar Rapids.
