Elected officials should follow law

To the editor:
I see letter writers saying that there would be no issue with speed camera tickets if we followed the law, followed the speed limit and that the signs are placed there as a courtesy and the thing is, they are absolutely right.
We should follow the law, but so should our elected officials. If the City of Cedar Rapids wants me to obey those speed limits, that's fine. But they should do the same. They have been told time and time again to remove two cameras and move two others and they refuse. They say it's for safety but that's a load. They do not want to lose the money. They do not want to follow what they're told. Do as I say, not as I do, right? Yes, the signs are a courtesy and it's that easy to follow the law. So, Mayor Ron Corbett, so Cedar Rapids, show us how to be. Follow the law. Do as you are told.
