Elect Democrats to balance Iowa’s national representation

As we close in on the election, all voters need to incorporate fairness into their choices. In Iowa, in most years, there are similar numbers of registered Democrats, Republicans and “no party” with no group exceeding 50 percent of all active voters. Yet our binary elections allow only one winner and we currently have had nearly eight years of no Democratic representation in the U.S. Senate and a single person speaking for us for 48 consecutive years if elected this cycle. We are also in danger of having none in the U.S. House next year as well.
While voters should always vote on their interests, I hope that voters can realize that all the candidates running in Eastern Iowa love our state and the country and want the best for all of us. To get to a consensus path we need discussion within the Congress and Iowa needs to have voices on both sides the aisle representing us. I have met Mike Franken, Liz Mathis and Christina Bohannan and all three would do a terrific and fair job of giving us that voice. They would incorporate the concerns of Republicans, Democrats and independent voters into policy balancing the interests and needs of all. Let’s get some Democrats into Congress so all of Iowa can be heard.
