Egg prices article misses important factors

Brittney Miller's recent article about the rise in egg prices misses two important points.
The ever increasing percent of our corn crop used to make ethanol raises the cost of feed to egg producers. Anyone who buys seeds for backyard birds is seeing the dramatic cost rise. We're increasingly choosing to burn, rather than eat, food.
If bird flu strikes a backyard flock a half dozen hens die. It has no impact on widespread egg prices. If flu strikes an enormous flock it has a dramatic impact on price. Decentralized smaller scale food production reduces risk.
