Economy is better because of Obama
The Gazette Opinion Staff

To Jenn Jones in Anamosa (July 19 letter, "Braley, Obama want more taxes, regulation”):
You say that President Obama is “patting himself on the back” about the economy and the job situation in this country. Please find me an example of your opinion. I have heard him state that our economy is better. It is better. The unemployment rate is two points lower than it was nine months after he took office. You may not be able to comprehend how many lost jobs had to be made up for. He has also said it's not good enough.
The stock market is not plummeting downward. The Dow Jones remains above 12,000 rather than at the low point created by the very “private sector” that you think has no blame for what they did to our country. If I had my wish, those giant banks, insurance and investment companies who brought down the U.S. would be tried for treason.
The president has done nothing to interfere with free enterprise. If you think that the health care reform act is a negative thing, then perhaps you should find out what is in it. Then you should find out what you will pay for health care if we don't reform the system.
