Drug traffic a concern for resident

I am concerned about the drug traffic in our city.
On Sept. 10, a car hit a porch and took the porch off the house next to Good News Baptist Church on Third Avenue SW. The car proceeded into the parking lot and totaled one of the cars there and severely damaged another.
Also, I have a friend that lives on the SE side of town whose house has been shot at several times. Then I was getting my hair done the other day and the beautician told me of her neighbor in the same apartment building that sells drugs. We had a drug bust on Eighth Street the other day, too, right across from Taylor School.
When is our mayor and City Council going to wake up? They focus so much on beautifying and developing our city and yet care very little that the neighborhoods are so unsafe.
My husband and I are considering selling our home of 16 years and moving to a safer area. As senior citizens, we should not be forced into doing so. If our city needs anything, it is a citywide campaign to rid ourselves of drug traffic.
