Drivers, watch out for pedestrians in C.R.
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Dec. 26, 2011 11:09 pm
Please, please, please pay attention when traveling in downtown Cedar Rapids on First Avenue, especially when approaching the railroad tracks by the Five Seasons Parkade.
On a daily basis, pedestrians are nearly run over by cars who are not observing the crosswalk lights or the fact that there are people crossing First Avenue. I understand the lighting and signage is not very effective and this is a very hectic area with the construction, but it is the consensus of us pedestrians that someone is going to be severely injured or killed due to a driver not stopping for a pedestrian.
I know you have somewhere to go, but taking a life to get there “in time” is not worth it.
