Drivers should learn funeral etiquette
The Gazette Opinion Staff

After the recent death of my father, it amazes me how many people do not know funeral etiquette. Are we all in such a hurry these days that we cannot wait for a funeral procession?
There were cars that did stop and did not enter the intersection while we drove through; however, the cars behind them honked for them to get going before the light turned red and they had to wait another three minutes before it turned green again. People drove past us then “cut in,” others angrily passed us. Really people? Some day it will be your loved one and you will get your turn to see how these drivers disrespect you and your family!
I would like to thank one young man who was working construction on First Avenue East by Cedar Memorial. He took off his hat and held it over his heart not knowing the person who was going to his final resting place was a Purple Heart veteran! That veteran was my dad and that worker has a big thank you from me and my family!
