Driver lacked concern for other's safety

Jack Hollingsworth Jr.'s reaction (April 10 letter) to getting an electronic citation for driving 77 mph is another symptom of why the cameras are there in the first place.
There is no roadway in the entire Cedar Rapids metro area where 77 mph is allowed. Likely, this occurred on Interstate 380 in a 55 mph stretch that had garnered several fatality crashes in recent years before the placement of the cameras.
To my knowledge, none has occurred since. Apparently, 22 mph over the posted speed limit is not considered unsafe in his home state of Arkansas. Yet, his letter only serves to emphasize either a complete state of ignorance or lack of caring for other's safety who share his roads, or both. If this is the style of corporate leadership he proposes bringing to Cedar Rapids, then perhaps we don't want his influence in our community.
Yes, Cedar Rapids needs good jobs, but not careless behavior that endangers its citizens.
