Dr. Ghosh is caring, compassionate

I am one of the 1,600 cancer patients under the care of Dr. Ghosh. Though he personally did not discuss details, I am confident that the general talk about his decision to stand up to Physicians' Clinic of Iowa's demand that PCI physicians invest in the new PCI Medical Pavilion was, obviously, based upon principle and strength of character.
He has donated thousands of dollars to many worthy causes in our community, including two organizations he founded himself. He saw unmet needs and he met them. He is a rare, unique combination: A man who is intellectually brilliant, highly educated and very current in his field with years of clinical experience, who is also humble, caring and compassionate.
PCI has done Cedar Rapids and our surrounding communities a huge disservice with his termination. As his patient, with over 2 1/2 years of chemotherapy ahead of me, I am devastated.
Thanks to Dr. Ghosh, I have had a complete response to treatment and am in a good remission. Thanks to PCI, this community will lose a man who is an amazing, highly effective oncologist who has saved many lives and added extra quality years to many others, in addition to setting an excellent example of selfless service to the community. What a shame. Shame on PCI.
