Double standard apparent in sports

The National Football League commissioner made the decision to get rid of Ray Rice, a public-relations nightmare. Justifiably so.
Anyone who saw the video of his then fiancee (now wife) being hit with enough force to knock her out had to wonder why she took it to the next level and married this bully who hid behind his comfy NFL salary. This is a decision she made and that she has to live with.
Time to revisit the Michael Vick dog fighting/cruelty case. His victims were at his mercy, but didn't receive anything of the kind. He tortured, maimed and killed innocent animals. When they weren't making him his almighty dollar, they were useless to him. I'm sure he was not struggling with his salary from the NFL either.
Dogs thrive on pleasing their masters and will still lick between the blows. One can only imagine the terror those poor creatures endured while at the hands of this individual. Then the NFL lets him back in. Is Rice going to be able to return also? I hope not.
And most confusing of all is Major League Baseball still not allowing one of the great players of all time into the Hall of Fame. Pete Rose made bad decisions that hurt no one but himself and his reputation in the end. He wasn't punching anyone or killing innocent animals. Talk about a double standard.
