Don’t trade history for a parking lot

“Don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you've got till it's gone? Pave paradise, and put up a parking lot.” Joni Mitchell's old song had it right. St. Luke's Hospital should stop its plan to demolish the First Christian Church to put up a parking lot.
I have visited several of the historic landmarks in Cedar Rapids, and have walked through its many neighborhoods to view its historic homes. I wish I had had a chance to see its amazing train station before it became a parking lot. History and beauty make a city special.
St. Luke's, there are many ways to serve the community. Save this important building.
