Don’t let country regress with Romney
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Jun. 18, 2012 12:57 pm
We are better off than we were four years ago. There is no President Dick Cheney/Vice President George Bush running the USA deeper into depression. The auto industry is saved. The economy is growing and jobs are being created. The USA is not at war in Iraq. Osama bin Laden is dead, years after someone boasted “Mission accomplished.”
But there are groups trying to reverse all this progress. One is corporations who are buying Congress. Another is political prostitutes who have sold their votes to those corporations and no longer represent their constituents. Another is Mitt Romney, intent on returning the USA to the Cheney/Bush era.
Take a close look at the Rep. Paul Ryan budget he is endorsing. It would effectively remove almost all our social safety nets, in place for decades, and replace them with Bain Capital type corporations to administer them and rob us blind.
Take a close look at Romney's stance on Iran, more war. A war that may reinstate the draft. And for what? A possible nuclear weapon. Pakistan has it already and is more unstable.
We need to look deep into ourselves, assess our motives and biases and move forward with President Barack Obama and not regress with Romney.
